Access Gallery is excited to announce the open call for our upcoming NOW, NEVER artist residency. Considering themes of urgency, crisis work, and community resilience, NOW, NEVER will invite selected artists to redeploy the gallery space as a site for rapid, intersectional forms of social care. The 2024 NOW, NEVER residency will run from October 1st through October 31st. Accessibility note: This application consists of 10 questions, and should take approximately one hour to complete. Access Gallery is happy to assess your application in whatever format is accessible to you—alternative formats, such as video or audio recordings, can be emailed to programming@accessgallery.ca with the subject line "RESIDENCY SUBMISSION." 1. Please note that bios for selected artists/collectives may be shared by Access Gallery in connection with the residency program. 4. Please provide a one-sentence summary of your proposed project/activities. 5. Statement of interest (approx. 300 words): please describe your proposed activities during the residency, and how your practice connects to the residency themes outlined in the open call. 6. CV (including past exhibitions or alternative forms of artistic/community involvements). 7. Support materials/examples of past work: 1. Please label files according to the following format: 01ArtistName_TitleOfWork_Dimensions_Year.jpeg. 2. For still images: Please upload 5-10 images in JPEG or PNG format, with a max file size of 10 MB. 3. For audio/video work: please provide links for up to 3 audio/video works, with a total duration of no more than 10 minutes. 4. You may choose to submit a mix of still and audio/visual works. The total number of works submitted should not exceed 10 (for example, you may submit 7 still images and 3 video works). 8. Links to audio/visual works (up to 3). Please include passwords for private links. 9. Are there any additional accommodations or supports that Access can offer you during the residency? (For example, ASL translation, masking support, reduced sensory input during studio time).
