Access is interested in encouraging dialogue that links artists of different generations to one another and to the wider community. Join us for the launch of the publication Far Away So Close: Part I , which features written contributions by Vancouver-based artists Raymond Boisjoly, Vanessa Kwan and Erdam Taşdelen. We will mark this occasion with an informal conversation between Boisjoly, Kwan and Access Gallery Director/Curator Kimberly Phillips, and to speak around ideas of distance, “dark magic” and the works in the exhibition.

Raymond Boisjoly is an Indigenous artist of Haida and Québécois descent from Chilliwack, BC, currently based in Vancouver. He is represented by Catriona Jeffries Gallery. This fall, Boisjoly will serve as Lead Faculty for “In Kind” Negotiations, a thematic residency at the Banff Centre. Vanessa Kwan is a Vancouver-based artist and curator. Her work has been exhibited at a number of galleries and artist-run centres. Recent projects include Sad Sack, a series of collaborations on the subject of melancholy, and Everything Between Open and Closed, a study of signs. She currently works as Curator of Special Projects at grunt gallery, and was curator of performance at the Vancouver Art Gallery from 2008–2014.
