A Night of Readings on the Dark

Thu 23 Feb 2017 7PM

Darkness is a pliant theme, encompassing terror and relief, estrangement and comfort, cunning and stealth, night and death, enigma and presence. Join the exhibiting artists of A Terrible Signal for an evening sharing favourite passages penned about the dark, from the realms of poetry, fiction, song, philosophy, and children’s literature. Readings will include selections from Isaac Asimov’s Nightfall (1941), Eowyn Ivey’s The Snow Child (2011), Jean-Luc Nancy’s The Fall of Sleep (2009), Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood (1954), The Talking Heads’ The Overload (1980), Jill Tomlinson’s The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark (1968), and others. Bring your own excerpt to contribute.

This event is part of the programming for A Terrible Signal: Megan Hepburn, Daniel Phillips, M.E. Sparks, Carolyn Stockbridge, Joseph Strohan, on exhibition from February 11 until April 1, 2017.
