Sound Walk with Elisa Ferrari

Heatley Avenue at Alexander Street

While the port has progressively become more and more inaccessible to Vancouver’s population, its sound continues to “leak” beyond the confined area where the cargo is handled. As an homage to the workers of the mercantile industry, Twenty-Three Days at Sea’s inaugural artist-in-residence Elisa Ferrari will lead a sound walk around Port Metro Vancouver’s Centerm Terminal. The walk will begin where Heatley Avenue meets Alexander Street at 8pm, will last approximately one hour and will take place regardless of weather.

Elisa Ferrari’s practice aims to uncover disparities between historical documentation and experience. She works with archival fragments to consider the act and implications of retrieval, in projects manifesting through installation, performance, sound, and photography. Born in Italy and based in Vancouver, Ferrari is a graduate of Emily Carr University of Art and Design’s MAA program.
