The front gallery features a large-scale wall installation a self portrait of sorts of two dominant images relevant to the West Coast landscape: the tidal wave and the condo. Inspired by narratives of both economic expansion and environmental collapse, the work mimics glossy surfaces of billboards and advertisements while depicting an individual s interaction with contemporary realities of catastrophe and urban development.
The Storm and the Fall is accompanied by a site-specific sculpture created from materials culled from demolition sites and housing developments in the area immediately surrounding Access.
