Courtney Dailey, Clark Ferguson, Onya Hogan-Finlay, Tim van Wijk, and Rebecca Watt address the conditions of an expanding global economy and propose an alternative model-a market based on social relations. As emerging practioners, the artists are especially concerned with the means of artistic production and dissemination. This exhibition consists of multiples of work such as viewfinders, found trophies, ceramic squirrels, wearable mouths, and miniature diaramas. The public will be able to offer goods or services, guided by a list, to the artists in exchange for the art works. The artists will periodically oversee the transactions furthering the goal of a market dominated not by things, but by persons.
Courtney Dailey, Clark Ferguson, Onya Hogan-Finlay, Tim van Wijk, and Rebecca Watt are multi-disciplinary artists who met while completing their BFA degrees at Concordia University. The artists now reside in various locales throughout North America. Courtney Dailey's exhibitions include 1026ers, CBGB's Gallery, New York (2001). Clark Ferguson's exhibitions include Spectacle Noir, Piscine St. Michele, Montreal (2001). Onya Hogan-Finlay's work includes Project Mobilivre, North American tour (2001). Tim van Wijk exhibited Right of Way at the Helen Pitt Gallery in Vancouver earlier this year. Rebecca Watt's exhibitions include Help Wanted, collaboration with Biliana Velkova, Alternator Gallery, Kelowna BC (2002).
