Delving into Elizabeth Milton's video installation Auditions (25 June - 23 July 2011), this publication addresses Milton's questions of authentic subjectivity, identity construction and the boundaries between amateur and professional practice. It includes an essay by Marina Roy, entitled Office Takes, Auditions and Casting Couch by Elizabeth Milton, the scripts of each of the three performances, and an introduction by Shaun Dacey. Roy posits in her essay that Milton’s video-installation cycle addresses a crisis of performative individuality, inserting a feminist and historical perspective into the discourse of ‘subject as crisis.’
