Jon Sasaki: Comedown

Published to accompany Jon Sasaki’s exhibition of the same name (11 September - 30 October 2010), Comedown examines some themes in Sasaki’s work and briefly discusses individual works. Comedown humorously references feelings of disappointment or deflation in relation to the aftermath of celebrations, in this case referencing the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, and evokes a human vulnerability to expectation, empathy, and optimism, creating ambiguity between interpretations of success and failure. Comedown was created as a response to the new work Jon Sasaki was commissioned to create.
